Learning Opportunities
Opportunities to learn and grow in the Christian faith abound at Hillcrest church. Through preaching, Bible study, and as part of most of our ministries, we have opportunity to consider Scripture and learn about the truths of the faith. Two specific opportunities to learn are our Sunday education program and our Winter Seminar.
Sunday Education Classes
All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness. 2 Timothy 3:16
Sunday education classes remain a vital tool in Hillcrest’s efforts to help prepare us for the many challenges life has to offer. We stress Biblically-based, practical application in our classes. Sunday School begins each Sunday at 9:45am and includes age-appropriate teaching of the Bible to classes for age groups beginning at age 2 through adult. Teachers of age 4 through senior high use the Great Commission curriculum. College-aged students and adults focus on various topics and books of the Bible. All are encouraged to read, memorize, and reflect on Scripture breathed out by God to affect thought, word and deed in building the Kingdom of God within relationships and circumstances. Please join us as we find deeper meaning in the Scriptures and more purpose for our lives.
Winter Seminar
Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching. 2 Timothy 4:2
Annually, the Christian Education Committee strives to bring to our church a teacher who guides us through lectures on various topics approved by Session. Over a series of meetings on Friday evening, Saturday evening and Sunday morning (during Sunday school and morning worship) of a weekend each year in January or February, the teacher, often from a Reformed seminary or college or university, shares Scripture, teaching, and prayer.
The winter seminar is open to the public. We hope you will mark this year’s seminar on your calendar. Please contact the church for more information.
